At our dental practice, we emphasize dental care and proactive oral health treatment for families.  Our goal is to help you keep your teeth and gums strong and healthy, whether you are a young child or a retiree.  Years of research have proven that an attractive smile is the result of diligent dental care and regular checkups, both of which are essential to monitoring and maintaining your oral health. The American Dental Association recommends you see your dentist at least twice a year for a comprehensive dental exam and a routine cleaning. Maintaining your oral health is crucial in avoiding pain, tooth loss, and expensive restorative dentistry procedures.

From in-office dental cleanings to restorative dental work and instructions and products for excellent home care, we’ve got you covered!  If it’s been longer than six months since you’ve seen a dentist, please call us to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Routine Dental Checkups Keep Your Teeth Healthy

When you make an appointment for a routine dental exam at our office in High Point, we’ll do everything we can to help you prevent cavities and gum disease. We’ll perform a complete checkup to determine any possible problems such as tooth decay, cracks in tooth enamel, and gum disease. We will also happily replace older, worn-out dental work as well, such as metal fillings and discolored crowns.

With a comprehensive exam every six months, we can manage small dental problems before they grow into larger, more complicated issues. Untreated cavities can grow rapidly and destroy an entire tooth, a cracked tooth may break off in not discovered and corrected, and gum disease can advance if not detected early. Even worse, advanced gum disease can cause tooth loss and lead to serious health issues such as oral cancer, which results in more than 7,500 deaths each year. Catching these problems early is essential in controlling them.

During these appointments, topical fluoride gels and varnishes may be applied to teeth to aid in preventing cavities. We also recommend dental sealants for many of our younger patients.  Sealants are coatings applied to teeth in order to fill deep pits and grooves. They are effective in preventing cavities for several years.

Your Part:  Diligent At-Home Care for Your Teeth and Gums

Cavities and gum disease are caused by germs, usually bacteria that thrive on sugars.  Removing the bacteria and sugars they love with proper tooth brushing, flossing, and a healthy diet can eliminate tooth decay and gum disease. You can do your part by performing twice-daily brushing and flossing.  Any time you visit our office, you’ll leave with instructions for improving the way you care for your teeth at home.  Helping you take the best care of your teeth is integral to our practice.

We value preventive dental care and treatment. Please call us today at 336-884-8989 to ask questions or schedule an appointment. We are conveniently located in the Deep River area of High Point, in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina.
